Having gained 10 years of experience in the paint industry, Pat McDonnell sensed an opportunity – one founded on simply providing the highest possible level of service to all Customers. In 1977 Pat & Cora McDonnell opened their first store in Grattan St in the heart of Cork. After a short while, it was obvious that more space was required, and a move to Bachelors Quay wasn’t long in coming. This Bachelors Quay store is still here today, even with some of the original staff from the ’70s & early 80’s.
After successfully establishing the business, the timing was right for it to grow as it approached the new millennium. A second store followed in Cork in 1997 on Centre Park Road in the Marina near Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The company grew with new stores being added in Kilkenny (2000), Tralee (2001), Athlone (2003), Galway (2005), Nutgrove, Rathfarnham in Dublin (2013), Raheen, Limerick (2018) and on the Commons Road in Cork (2022). The last to open was the Blanchardstown store in Dublin (2023). Pat McDonnell Paints currently employs 150 staff across its ten Paint and Décor Stores.

We have an unrivalled selection of wallpapers and decorating accessories along with a Free In-store Colour Consultancy service and a Free Delivery Service* to your home or your place of work, which Customers find extremely convenient.
